The lights are out in the Berlin fashion tent. Just one spotlight focussing on a model dressed in the Esmod winner overall with a bandeau and smoking a cigarette calls the attention of everyone watching. Accompanied by the distinctive smoky voice of Lana Del Rey and her song “Blue Jeans” the guests found themselves drawn in to the wild 30’s accentuated with ethnic influences.
Art Déco meets Ethno! At this season’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin Head of Design Elisabeth Schwaiger showed feminine looks, wearable 24/7. The theme of the collection: Art Deco meets ethno! Elegant materials and soft cuts underlined a prominent fashion statement. “The Fall/Winter Collection 2012 is inspired by Luxury Ease, the aura of our legendary Marlene Dietrich, and is therefore homage to all superwomen who lived ahead of their time”. Laurèl focuses on colourful highlights in luminous orange, violet and grassy green to outfits in cream, black and midnight blue. A wealth of fur collars and feathers make the designs especially glamorous. Whether on ponchos, skirts or coats, the accentual interaction between understatements and perfectly staged highlights prevails.
